Stories Books and Cafe is Echo Park's prime purveyor of quality books, organic/fair trade coffee, espresso and delicious food.

Claudia Colodro and Liz Garo opened Stories in November 2008. Facing a crumbling economy and a chorus of amateur pop economists predicting the death of the bookstore, Stories opened its doors and proved the naysayers wrong.  We were embraced by the neighborhood, and our continuing growth and success is a testament to the vitality of Echo Park. As part of the larger literary community of Los Angeles, we host a diverse calendar of events, from book release parties, comedy shows, live music, and community meetings. Our carefuly curated selection has made us a destination for book lovers of the greater Los Angeles and beyond.

The cafe offers baked goods from Home Boy Bakery and The Village Bakery.  We have the delectable Laura Ann's Jams,  and a variety of grab & go sandwiches.  Our coffee beans are from Bicycle Coffee.

We sell new, used and rare books.

We buy and trade. Our buying hours are generally between 11 to 8. Its best to call ahead to make sure a buyer is working.

We do make house calls for larger collections. Write to Alex@storiesla.com for info.
